Welcome
Being human is a messy business. It can be devastating, confusing and joyous. And that’s just the morning. But to be human is also to change, to grow, to learn and heal. I believe everyone is capable of this with enough support, acceptance and opportunity.
I would make our time together meaningful by focusing on you, in your entirety. You are more than symptoms, more than a trauma, more than someone with a diagnosis. I would get to know your values and ideals, even if you think they’re out of reach. I would hear all you’ve accomplished to get here, even if you might have forgotten or think it trivial. I would share your experiences in a space that is open and safe, so that you can begin again to see the person I’d see. The person worth the struggle of therapy.
You.

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”
-Carl Rogers
